1. Age Requirement

To rent a vehicle, drivers must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid license held for a minimum of 3 years.
In addition, drivers under 23 must acquire "Young Driver’s Insurance" at a daily cost of €9.00
For drivers aged 75 and above a "Senior Drivers Insurance" is required, priced at €25 for the entire rental period payable upon arrival.
Please be aware that drivers under 25 and those over 75 are not eligible for Full Insurance coverage and are restricted from booking certain car categories.

2. Drivers license
A valid driving license held for at least three years is required.
Renters carrying a national driving license from an EU member state (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden) and from Switzerland, United Kingdom, U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Gibraltar, Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, do not require an International Driving Permit. Renters carrying a valid national driving license that has been issued by a state in which no international driving license is issued (i.e., China), do require a certified translation in English or in Greek.
For all other countries, a valid International Driving Permit is required along with the national driving license. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines.)

3. Fuel
We have a straightforward ‘Same Fuel Policy.' The renter is required to return the rented vehicle with the same level of fuel as when it was collected. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the renter will be charged for the fuel deficit. Please note, no refunds are provided for vehicles returned with more fuel than upon collection
4. Extra Driver
In every rental the main driver, typically the person named on the rental agreement, is the insured individual responsible for the rental.
For any additional drivers, their presence is required at the start of the rental. All additional drivers must have their driving licenses and be added to the rental agreement.
Only individuals who are listed on the rental agreement as additional drivers are legally allowed to drive the rental car. If an unlisted driver is involved in an accident or damages the vehicle the insurance coverage may not apply and the renter may be held responsible.

5. Vehicle Pickup
When collecting the rental vehicle, the renter must ensure the following:
1.  Applicable Statutory License: The renter must present a valid driver's license, held for at least three years, and meet the age requirements for the chosen vehicle category
2.  Credit Card: Have your credit card available for necessary transactions and security purposes.

3.  Identification Card: Carry a valid identification card for an extra layer of verification during the pickup process

6. Insurance
6.1. Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.)
Included in our standard package, Collision Damage Waiver (C.D.W.) provides essential coverage for your rental. This insurance comes with a third-party insurance (TPI) component and covers damages to the rented vehicle, with varying excess amounts based on the car model and category:
• Small cars: Up to 800€
• Medium cars: Up to 1000€
• Big cars: Up to 1200€
• Special vehicles and 4x4s: Up to 1500€ (VAT not included)
In case of damage to the vehicle, the renter is responsible for the liability/excess amount specific to the car group.
Note that this option is subject of specific terms and conditions detailed in the 6.4. Insurance section
6.2. Reduced Excess/Liability Option:
For renters seeking added financial security, we offer an option to reduce your liability/excess amount. This option allows you to enjoy a lower financial responsibility in case of damages. The reduced liability insurance is available at an additional cost, and the extent of reduced liability varies according to the selected car category. This choice provides an opportunity to customize your insurance coverage based on your preferences and budget.

6.3. Full Damage Waiver (F.D.W)
Our Full Damage Waiver (F.D.W.) is designed to provide you with enhanced protection. With this comprehensive coverage:
• Protection for the vehicle's body against damages
• The excess is waived to a minimum, excluding specific items like glass, tires, mirrors, interior and underbody
• Coverage for additional drivers and passengers, along with Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I.)
• Reduction of the excess to a minimum, excluding specific items such as glass, tires, mirrors, interior, and underbody. The cost of this insurance package varies depending on the category of the rented vehicle.

6.4. Insurance Coverage and Exceptions:
Note that the following coverage and exceptions are universally applicable to all our insurance covers.
Coverage: Our vehicles are provided with comprehensive insurance coverage to ensure your peace of mind:
1. Third-Party Coverage: Up to €500,000 per victim for death and injury.
2. Property Damage to Third Parties: Up to €100,000.
3. Fire and Car Theft Coverage.
Please be aware that these insurance contracts apply exclusively to Kefalonia and Ithaca.
Exceptions: It is imperative to understand that the Insurance Terms become void, and the renter assumes responsibility for damages in the following scenarios:
1. Damage caused by intent or negligence.
2. Ignoring the Check engine or Temperature Indicator
3. Damage resulting from using the wrong fuel.
4. Damages during unauthorized boat transportation.
5. Damage to the undercarriage, roof, interior, windshield, wheels, and tires.
6. Damage due to misuse of the clutch
7. Loss or damage of keys
8. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DWI).
9. Violation of the Greek Traffic Code.
10. Driving on unsuitable roads or dirt paths.
11. The vehicle being operated by a non-authorized driver.
12. The car being used for purposes other than passenger transportation, including transporting goods, engaging in activities not explicitly aligned with standard passenger transport, and while pushing or towing anything.

7. Credit or Debit card Payment and DEPOSIT???
If a valid credit or debit card is not available, we ask renters to secure coverage for car rental excess/liability through an alternative method, such as their own insurance policy (e.g., travelers insurance with car rental excess cover) or a third-party provider for car rentals. Prior communication with our administration is necessary, and documentation must be submitted in advance for authorization and presented upon arrival.

8. Additional Charges
Late Return Fees: Returning the vehicle after the agreed-upon time may result in late return fees. It's crucial to adhere to the specified return time to avoid these charges.
Fuel Charges: If the car is not returned with the same level of fuel as when it was picked up, you may incur additional charges. Make sure to refill the tank to the agreed-upon level before returning the vehicle.
Cleaning Fees: Excessive dirt or an untidy, littered interior beyond normal use may result in cleaning fees. If the vehicle is returned with specific stains such as salt or pet hair on the seats, trunk, or floor, requiring a special cleaning process, a fee of €100,00 will be applied.
Damage Costs: Any newly identified damages upon return, not previously documented may result in additional charges. It is advisable to inspect the vehicle before and after the rental period. The extent of these charges will be determined based on the liability/excess of the booked insurance, excluding damages that fall under the insurance exceptions.
a. Minor damages, such as scratches, dents, interior issues, that do not affect the safe use of the vehicle and are appraised up to 400€, are evaluated based on prevailing market rates and our extensive experience.
b. Substantial damage that affects the cars functionality and requires temporary immobilization, such as bodywork damage, will be assessed by an independent expert. Charges will be determined according to the expert's cost estimate or an evaluation from an independent garage.
Rental Cars Kefalonia will provide you with a damage report outlining the repair costs associated with the occurred damage and vehicle immobilization.

Car Interior Damage: Any damage to the interior of the car, such as upholstery, seats, or dashboard, not covered by insurance, may result in additional charges.
Loss or Destruction of Key: A charge of 100€ will be applied for the loss or destruction of keys
Traffic Violations: Any traffic fines or violations incurred during the rental period are the renter's responsibility. It's crucial to inform the rental company promptly to address these issues.
Exceptional Charges: Additional charges may be applicable if insurance coverage is voided, as outlined in point 6.4 (Insurance exceptions). Such charges are incurred in situations contrary to proper usage, including but not limited to damage to the undercarriage, driving with an active check engine indicator, having an accident without informing the rental company, misuse of the car, and instances of general negligence.

9. Condition and Return of Vehicle:
Upon concluding the rental period, return the vehicle to the specified location in the Agreement by the agreed-upon date and time. Ensure the vehicle is in a condition reflecting regular wear and tear.
Non-compliance or leaving the vehicle elsewhere without consent makes you responsible for its safety, potential damage, or loss until our inspection. Additional costs for collecting the vehicle from an unauthorized location are your responsibility.
Timely reporting of damages, issues, or dashboard indicators is crucial. Delayed reporting may result in unforeseen costs, affecting the overall rental experience. Your proactive communication is appreciated for transparency and a smooth rental process.

10. Car Category
We prioritize providing you a vehicle from the same category and similar characteristics to meet your needs, though we cannot guarantee a specific car model. Furthermore, if an upgrade is available, we're delighted to offer it at no extra cost, enhancing your overall rental experience.

11. Taking the vehicle outside Kefalonia

Under no circumstances are our vehicles allowed to leave the island or to cross of Greek borders. Individual planning needs the advance authorization of our company. Any attempt to ferry the car without prior approval will result in a violation of the rental agreement.

12. Traffic Violations & Responsibility
It's important for the renter to follow Greece's traffic regulations, like in any European country. The renter assumes responsibility for any costs arising from traffic law violations. If traffic fines occur, timely communication with the company or our team is crucial. It is essential that fines are settled by the end of the rental period to ensure a smooth conclusion to the agreement. This collaborative effort helps efficiently handle any issues related to traffic violations throughout the rental period
In the event that license plates are removed by the police, the renter is accountable for any loss of income from potential future rentals until the plates are returned.

13. One-Way Rentals
Our vehicles are offered for one-way rentals, allowing you to pick up and return the car at different locations exclusively within the island of Kefalonia. This arrangement should be arranged in advance during the booking process and confirmed in the rental agreement. Additional charges may apply for such one-way rentals.

14. Cancellation Policy
Bookings payable upon arrival offer flexibility in your travel plans and are free of cancellation fees, although they come with a slightly higher rental cost. We encourage timely cancellations in the event of unexpected circumstances.
Please note that the cancellation policy applies exclusively to prepaid bookings.
1. Cancellations made 7 days or more before the scheduled rental date are eligible for a full refund, with a nominal processing fee deducted.
2. For cancellations within 7 days of the rental date, the refund gradually decreases as the time of cancellation approaches the start of your reservation. If you cancel within 48 hours of the reservation start, you would receive a refund of at least 50%. However, special occasions and circumstances may still be considered for a full refund.
3. No-shows on the day of the rental will result in a charge of the full rental amount.
4. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing and explicitly confirmed by the company.
5. Please be aware that no refunds will be issued for early returns or unused rental days.
Our policy maintains flexibility, providing guidelines for cancellations based on timing and circumstances.


We reserve the right to adjust the above 'Terms and Conditions' without explicit notice in accordance with our insurance provider.

Please note that depending on the type of protection you bought for the rental, you may not have to pay for the damage, or you may only be partially liable.
